Japan Trip Day Five

Day #5 Osaka (Kaiyukan Aquarium - Osakako - Umeda- Hep Five - Den Den Town)
13th August 2008 (Tuesday)

We scheduled to meet at Cross Hotel lobby at 9.30am to visit the Kaiyukan Aquarium today. Though i'm not very interested as I dislike fishes, but this is a place Hubby and Steven was looking forward to. I just wished it would not be boring. We took the Namba subway to Hommachi to transit to Osakako. Had to buy the one day ticket to travel on the different subway line.

One day ticket
The queue to get in to the Aquarium was disgustingly long. What made the wait worse was the heat. Many tourists were holding on to their umbrellas but few gave up the idea to go in. We queued for more than an hour and were finally able to get the tickets and enter the air conditioned aquarium.

The aquarium was huge with many species of sea animals; many of which I don't recognise.

After completing the whole stadium, we bought a souvenir coin again. I don't think i'll ever come back here again as fishes has never been my interest.

Another Souvenir Coin to add to our collection
We had our lunch at Melbourne House, this western restaurant just below the aquarium. As we were too tired and hungry, no pictures were taken. :) After lunch, we planned to visit Umeda Hep Five, the unusual mall which we missed the previous day. There is a gigantic Ferris Wheel that acutally cuts into some of the floors of the mall. We had to take the train from Osakako to Hommachi for transit. And as it was on the way, Steven insisted for us to brave the heat (again) to one of the fishing shops at one of the stations. The fishing shop was small, boring with nothing much to see.

@ HEP Five

Hep Five was a disappointment actually. The shops are too kiddish for our age group, so there was practically nothing to buy. We took some pictures as usual and decided to head to Nipombashi Den-Den Town, the electric goods street that supposedly offer pretty good prices. However, to our disappointment, many of the shops were closed by the time we reached.

We saw a small eatery (得正) and decided to have our dinner there. They served pretty good curry chicken katsu rice fortunately. The shop is managed by the boss himself - one man show!

After dinner, we headed back to Namba Station. We went to the electronic shop where we were previously (BIC Camera) as hubby wanted to buy a charger for our camera. After buying, we headed back to the hotel to rest, in preparation for the next day.
