Hong Kong Trip Day Two

Day #2: Causeway Bay - IFC @ Sheung Wan - The Peak
25th December 2008 (Thursday) 15-20°C

It's Christmas Day today! As usual, we took the hotel shuttle bus to Times Square for our brunch. We found this place near Times Square called Ho Hung Kee and there was a queue.... so we decided to take a bet and try out the food there. Not a bad choice afterall! There's a huge menu to choose from... we ordered the safest 水饺面 and 炸云吞... only cost us HKD 144 in all. Worth it! [Rating: 4.0/5.0]

After our brunch, we took the MTR to Sheung Wan by mistake. So we decided to walk down to IFC to take a look at the big mall. The mall is huge with many branded shops... since we didn't have anything to buy and didn't want to waste money, we decided to move on to somewhere else instead.

Taken outside IFC on the bridge

We then took the 专线小巴 Service #1 from a terminal nearby to the Peak where we had a great time! We visited the Madame Tussauds Museum there too!

On the Mini Bus Svc #1

The Mini Bus driver was scary! He was speeding around the windy slopes! It was a real experience I would say... but I don't think I would want to try it again!

Once we reach our destination, we went up to the highest floor where the Green Terrace is to take some pictures. It was so windy there! My hair was flying into a mess by the wind, though not obvious from the pictures.

Next we proceeded to the Madame Tussauds Museum (香港杜莎夫人蜡像馆), where we took pictures with the wax figures of many stars and politicians, including our very own SM Lee Kuan Yew!

After the Madame Tussauds Museum visit, we proceeded to the restaurant named "Hong Kong Day"  downstairs for dinner. Hubby ordered bacon, egg and pork chop rice while i had fried beef noodle. We also ordered additional spring roll and lemon tea to share. All for HKD 120. [Rating: 3.5/5.0]

After dinner, we went to the Sky Terrace upstairs for night scenery phototaking. Very cooling and nice scenic views.

We decided to take the tram back instead of the scary mini bus as it was already very dark. The queue for the tram was horrible... we had to queue for almost 1 hour before we manage to board it. The drop off point for the tram was at Central MTR, where we then took the MTR to Wan Chai to walk around.

We chanced upon another dessert place, 许留山.We ordered the popular Mango Pomelo, XO Carrot Cake and Steam Egg White with bird's nest. All was good... [Rating:4.3/5.0] it's much better than the earlier dessert shop we went yesterday. They have many outlets all over HK.... and we took a card in case we have craving for desserts in our remaining days there.

After the dessert, we took the MTR back to Times Square @ Causeway Bay. Since it was still early, we decided to walk around at the shopping mall. I bought some make up from Shu Uemura since it is the cheapest in Hongkong... and afterwhich, we slowly make our way back by foot to the hotel to rest for the day..
