Hong Kong Trip Day Seven

Day #7 Hong Kong - Macau
30th December 2008 (Tuesday) 15-18°C

It's the day to visit Macau finally. We planned to start our day earlier but ended up only waking up at 8am. We took the hotel shuttle bus to Admiralty MTR to transit to Shuen Wan for the turbojet to Macau. Upon reaching Shun Tak Centre, we decided to have our breakfast before we buy the tickets. We chose to eat at the only familiar restaurant 地茂小厨. Ordered 皮蛋瘦肉粥 with 油条,出前一丁with luncheon meat and egg + coffee. Total HKD 48. Cheap and good. [Rating: 4.2/5.0]

出前一丁with luncheon meat and egg. No idea why we didn't take pictures of the other food.
After breakfast, we went to queue up for the tickets for the turbojet.[Cost of turbojet tickets: HKD134/pax]. To our surprise, it was already up to the 11.35am slot for departure. That means we had to wait up to 1.5 hours before we can board. Left with no choice, we bought the tickets and walked around the boring Shun Tak Centre. When we were finally able to board, the crowd was amazing and the customs took very long to clear. We only managed to board the turbojet at 12.15pm and reached Macau at around 1.15pm.

Upon reaching there, we decided to go to our first planned destination- Macau Tower. We took bus 32 from the Ferry Terminal. However, as the bus journey was very long, we thought we lost our way or missed our stop and got off even before we reach the tower. And since we were feeling hungry, we decided to take our lunch at one of the small eateries along the roadside and it turned out to be one of the best meal we had. Did not manage to get the address of the place though . Only know that it's called 陈光记. We ordered just the roasted meat and rice and it was yummy!
The eatery that sells excellent roasted duck!
After the sumptuous and unexpected meal, we proceeded to Macau Tower. We bought two tickets to the Observation Deck [Cost: HKD 85/pax].

We took many pictures at the Observation Deck. They had the transparent flooring that allows you to see through down the tower. We had to transit at Lvl 58 to go up to Lvl 61 where some people were doing the sky walk and bungee jump. Both me and hubby did not dare to do it.
At the Top of Macau Tower - Very good view and experience!
After the Macau Tower, we headed to A Ma Temple(妈祖阁). [Directions: Take bus 18/21 from Macau Tower]. We took some pictures there before proceeding to the next location on our itinerary.

Next, we took Bus No 5 to Almerio Ribero (新马路) and walked to Senado Square. On our way there, we bought some traditional Almond Cookies, Egg Roll with Pork Floss to bring back to Singapore for family and friends. The shop name is called 凤城老澳门手信. (Address: 澳门新马路279号--双喜珠宝金行侧)

Upon reaching Senado Square, we walked around and took more pictures. We wanted to visit the Holy House of Mercy but it was already closed by the time we reach there. So we randomly took more pictures at Senado Square before proceeding to the Ruins of St Paul's (大三巴).

After St Paul's, we continued our walk up the Mount Fortress to take more pictures. The scenery on top was great... we can see lighted Grand Lisboa Hotel too.

After enjoying the scenery and phototaking, we wanted to make our way to Fisherman's Wharf but we couldn't find the bus stop. Along the way, we bought the waffle balls (鸡蛋仔) from a store along one of the streets. The guy selling it was a funny one too, keeps talking and joking while he was making it.
鸡蛋仔... smells and taste nice!
We had to walk for another 20 minutes or so before we reached the main road. We managed to locate a bus stop and took bus #3 back to the Ferry Terminal. We happened to see the free shuttle bus to Venetian Macao while we reached the Ferry Terminal, thus abandon our plans to Fisherman's Wharf and went to the casino hotel instead. The place was nice and grand but every corner seemed to look the same after we walked round.
@ The Venetian
We had our dinner at the Festiva Food Court at The Venetian before taking the free shuttle bus back to the Ferry Terminal. Hubby ordered Eel Rice for me, while he has his favourite Pork Cutlet with rice. Food tasted normal but it was definitely an expensive meal. [Rating: 3.2/5.0]

We reached the ferry terminal at around 10.30pm. The tickets for the Turbojet was at 1am. We went through the customs and waited there throughout since all the shops were already closed and we were pretty tired, thus didn't want to walk around or explore any further. When we finally reach Shun Tak Centre, we immediately took a cab back to the hotel to catch our beauty sleep.
